Ronald McDonald House VolunteeringRMHC Charities is Hagerty Robotic's first philanthropy activity, and is anticipated to continue monthly for the remainder of the school year. Our team prepared a variety of 3 STEM activities for young children (Lava lamps, straw rockets, and a catapult). While at the home, we demonstrated the activities and gave the children there a chance to build and explore catapults and miniature rockets.
Additionally, our program signed up to participate in the "Baking Buddies" effort at the home, and spent the latter half of our time there baking brownies with the kids. |
UCF STEM Day - SpringOur 2018 visit to UCF's STEM day was a huge success! We were able to demo Reign for a variety of K-12 students, as well as teach younger kids how to use and program EV3 robots. Our members, along with the rest of our program, worked with all visitors to explain our robot's function and the importance of STEM education for students.

Jackson Heights Middle School DemoWith the goal of promoting FIRST, team members visited the Jackson Heights Middle School Stem Night. Our robot and program boards were displayed for those who pass by. We also presented to interested students and answered any questions they may have. Information on our summer camps, including our Recruitment Camp, were available.

Stenstrom Elementary Demo
We were able to demonstrate and showcase various parts of our teams; we presented the hardware design of the robot, our outreach involvements, and a team summary with all the leadership roles displayed on a board. We also presented our summer camp and collaborated with parents to try and get more kids involved in robotics and in First. With this display in mind, we were able to detail to our audience what our team, 4227, was about, our past and present accomplishments/developments. Throughout the night, we allowed the children to control the shooter of our demo bot. This showed them what it is like to control a robot. By doing this, kids got very excited about our robots.
Women in Engineering - 10/15/18
Our program had the chance to go and inform people about what our program has to offer and convince people to be interested in FIRST. We brought along one of our robots to show people and also the EV3's. The kids were very excited to see what we could do and even more when we told them they could do it themselves. Being able to hear the women's stories were inspiring and made us want to push further towards success. Our members helped kids understand the basics of programming and how to drive the robot. Parents were thrilled to see that FIRST had so much to offer like scholarships and a lot of fun
Rookie Team Crash Course - 9/22/18On the weekend after the kickoff events, several rookie teams from the Space Coast League came to our home of Hagerty High School. For seven hours, we taught them how to program, CAD, design, present, and document in the Engineering Notebook. Other skills we emphasized were on multimedia and team building, and most importantly, Gracious Professionalism. With hosting this post-kickoff workshop, we hope to help the large amount of rookie teams in our league this year to strengthen them for competition.

FTC Season Kick-Off Event - 9/8/19Around the beginning of the school year, program members went to the NASA Visitor Center to watch (and celebrate) the live kickoff video. During the kickoff, several teams presented, and being a well established team, we did as well. Our presentation highlighted our method of presenting to help the newer teams with theirs, and went in depth about the FIRST program. After the presentations ended, the rules were reviewed, and we saw a copy of the field, from there on out, our teams were off to the races!
