What is FIRST?
"FIRST is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization devoted to helping young people discover and develop a passion for science, engineering, technology, and math. Founded over 20 years ago by inventor Dean Kamen, the 2014-2015 FIRST season brought together more than 400,000 young people, and Volunteers filling over 180,000 roles, in more than 80 countries. The annual programs culminate in an international robotics competition and celebration where teams win recognition, gain self confidence, develop people and life skills, make new friends, and perhaps discover an unforeseen career path."

One of the many goals of FIRST is to show students from ages 6-18 that problem solving isn't something you only find in the classroom. FIRST describes itself as offering students some of the hardest fun that you'll ever have. With over 300,000 members world wide in over 70 countries, FIRST helps students become introduced to STEM career options and important life skills.
